There is no image of everyday city life in Africa reported in the
local media. The post-colonial European influence is a part of reality
in African cities, which is only reported to us fragmentarily and
extremely selectively.
Christine Meisner in her work "reality without guarantees" deals with
possibilities for representation of urban African reality in the form
of drawings, videos and texts from the cities Lagos, Yamoussourkro and
Abidjan. This is confronted with the inscription of European
stereotypes in the architecture and, in the process of recording, with
the conventions of our own, European view.
